Numerology : An Introduction

Numerology is the study of the numbers to determine their influence on one’s  life.

Numbers have a very important place in our life. Be it the number of your mobile phone, your social security,  your credit card, your license, your ATM or your employee card. All these numbers are really important for you and if you lost any of them you’ll find yourself in deep trouble.

In fact the world will come to a halt if it forget the use of numbers. No calculation will be possible in the absence of numbers.

However, apart from these physical numbers (like that of your mobile phone) there are other numbers too which plays an important role in your life. They start producing their influence on your life right from the moment of your birth. And they will continue to influence you till you die.

Numerology is the study of these numbers.

In this website, I have tried to be as short and ‘to the point’ as possible.

So I’ll not waste your time in explaining the history, background or origin of numerology as I feel it has  very little relevance. I have kept myself within the boundaries of pure Numerology only – the basic art of numbers which is essential for an average person.

Though there are infinite numbers in Universe, they all are composed of 10 basic numbers ( 0, 1, 2,3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9).

Although Zero (0) is  a very important number from mathematical point of view, it is not considered a number which can influence life. Therefore, it is not studied as a separate number in Numerology. However, it (zero) is considered as the symbol of eternity in occult science and it is used as a compound numbers in  some numerological calculations (particularly those related to Name Numerology)

The entire science of (if I may call a disciplined study of numbers as science)  Numerology  revolved around the influence of these 9 basic numbers (1 to 9 ) on human life.

This study is a very interesting study and may be of immense help to us in our future life.

Numerological calculation :  Some basic points

Before you start reading let me explain some general points which you will encounter in this section.

The Number people

In numerology people are categorized on the basis of their date of birth. For example those who are born on 1st, 10th, 19th or 28th of any month, they are known as Number 1 people because if we add the respective numbers of these digits they all come down to one.

Let’s see

Number 10 has two digits 1 & 0.

1 + 0 = 1

Number 19 has two digits 1 & 9.

1 + 9 = 10, 1+0= 1

Number 28 has two digits 2 & 8

2 + 8 = 10, 1+0  = 1.

Similarly those who are born on 2nd, 11th, 20th or 29th of any month, they are known as Number 2 People.

29, 2 + 9 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2

On the basis of above, you can calculate in which category you belong to.

For example if you are born of 27th of any month then by adding the two digits of 27 (i.e. 2 & 7) you can calculate that you belong to the category of Number 9 people.

Collectively there are  total of 9 categories of people starting from Number 1 people to Number 9 people.

Understanding the Cusp

This word ‘Cusp’ will also come many time during this section. So it is better to understand this cusp. Cusp denotes the first few days or last few days of a sun sign. When people says they are ‘on the cusp’ it means they were born either during the first few days or within the last few days of a sun sign. For example, someone born on 19 March, would be on the cusp of Pieces and Aries. As a result, they are a mixture of the characteristics of both signs. So, whereas, Pisceans might normally be shy, withdrawn, reticent and unsure of themselves, being born here ads the Arien influence of energy, courage and greater confidence to their nature.

Some important explanatory points regarding the above chart : 

The start of Solar Year : 

From astrological point of view it is considered that the true solar year commences with the Sun’s entrance into the Vernal or Spring Equinox on the 21st to the 23rd day of March of every year, and appears to pass through each Sign of the Zodiac of 30 degrees each, one after the other, taking slightly under 365 1/4 days in so doing, making our year popularly accepted as 365 days.

The Earth, revolving once upon its own axis in each 24 hours, causes the whole of the 13 Signs of the Zodiac in their turn to pass over each portion of the Earth once each 24 hours. The Moon revolves round the Earth in a lunar month of 28 days. This wonderful mechanism,  is just like the hour-hand, minute-hand and second-hand of a clock.

Planets : Positive or Negative ?

You can also notice in the chart  that the Planets have a Positive and Negative quality in accordance with the period of the Zodiac they rule. However, the positive and negative quality of a planet are not ‘good’ or ‘bad’ quality. Actually the Positive influence represent more physical and forceful qualities, whereas the Negative represents the mental qualities of the person.

Sun and Moon : Planets ??

Though in reality Sun and moon are not Planets (rather Star and Satellite), in numerology they are considered as Planets since it is supposed that they influence human life to a great extent.

It may also be noted that in Numerology the  planet Pluto is not considered a planets important enough to have any influence on us. Not to speak of Xena – the 10th planet discovered recently. (Though you have not seen Uranus and Neptune in the above charts, they are very well considered as Planets of Numbers 4 & 7 respectively)

The Number “1” of Numerology

The number one “1” stands in this symbolism for the Sun. It is the beginning-that by which all the rest of the nine numbers were created. The basis of all numbers is one-the basis of all life is one.

This number represents all that is creative, individual, and positive. Without going into further details, a person born under the Birth number of I, or any of its series, has the underlying principles of being in his or her work creative, inventive, strongly individual, definite in his or her views, and in consequence more or less obstinate and determined in all they as individuals undertake. The Number 2 in Numerology

The number 2 stands in symbolism for the Moon. It has the feminine attributes of the Sun, and, for this reason alone, although number I and number 2 people are decidedly opposite in their characters, their vibrations are harmonious and they make good combinations.

Number 2 people are all those who are born on the 2nd, nth, 20th, or 29th in any month, but their characteristics are the more marked if they are born between the 20th June and the 27th July, this period being what is called the “House of the Moon.” I have added the seven days of the “Cusp” to the 20th July.

The Number “3” in Numerology

The number 3 stands in symbolism for the Planet Jupiter, a Planet which plays a most important role both in Astrology and in all systems of Numerology. It is the beginning of what may be termed one of the main lines of force that runs right through all the numbers from 3 to 9.

The number 6 stands in symbolism for the Planet Venus. Persons having a 6 as their Birth number are all those who are born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th of any month, but they are more especially influenced by , this number if they are born in what is called the” House of the 6,” which is from the 20th April to May 20th-27th, and from the 21st September to October 20th–27th.

The Number “7” in Numerology

The number 7 stands in symbolism for the Planet Neptune, and represents all persons born under the 7, namely those who are born on the 7th, 16th, or 25th of any month, but more especially influences such persons if they were born from the 21st June to July 2oth27th, the period of the Zodiac called the” House of the Moon.” The Planet Neptune has always been considered as associated with the Moon, and, as the part. of the Zodiac I have mentioned is also called the First’ House of Water, the connection of Neptune whose very name is always associated with Water is then logical and easily understood.

To try to escape he chose the name “Robinson,” which has, strange to say, 8 letters in it.

He was recognized on board the Montrose on the 22nd July, which again equals a 4.

The name of the ship he chose to leave Europe by (the Montrose) has 8 letters, and the ship that brought him back to his doom, the Megantic, was also composed of 8 letters.  He was arrested, as this ship reached Canada, on the morning of the 31st July, which again equals 4.

His trial finished on Saturday, 22nd October, which is again the 4, and October being the month of “the detriment of Saturn” gives again the 8.

The occult number by which Saturday is designated is an 8.

His execution was fixed for the 8th November.

His appeal was heard and refused on Saturday, 5th November. The 5 added to the 8, which Saturday is a symbol of, again makes the figure 13, which number again equals a 4.  When his appeal failed, the date of execution was changed to the 23rd November. The addition of 2-3 makes a 5, and the division of the Zodiac which represents this portion of November is designated as a 3; and this 3, if added to the date (the 23rd), makes the figure 26, which by addition (2 plus 6) again equals 8. Or if the 3 were added to the number of 23 we would get 26 or the 8.

The symbol of the number 8, I may also mention, from time immemorial, in occult studies, is called the” symbol of human justice.”

Lastly, when Crippen’s” Key numbers” the 4 and 8, came together, it was the fatal year of his life. He was 48 years old when executed. It is not my province to judge or condemn this unfortunate being. Crippen, in any case, suffered as few men have been called upon to suffer; but I may add that the. combination of such numbers as 4 and 8 as the” Key numbers” in any life, indicate an individual terribly under the influence of Fate, and one especially unfortunate through his or her affections.

I have followed out many cases of people having similar “Key numbers,” and in every case they seem sooner or later to come into conflict with what the 8 represents, namely, the symbol of “human justice.” They are generally condemned, even in ordinary social life, by the weight of circumstantial evidence, and they usually die with their secret, appealing, as it were, from the sentence of “human justice,” which, as a rule, has been against them, to that of the Divine Justice in the world beyond.

The occult symbol of 8 has from time immemorial been  represented by the figure of Justice with a Sword pointing upwards and a Balance or Scales in the left hand. The Rule

Calculate the compound number of name. Read the interpretation of compound number. If it represent a lucky number then accept that name. If it represent an unlucky number then try to add/delete some letters to/from that name and make it a correspond to a lucky compound numbers.

The method and it’s explanation

I have received emails from many readers who have sought clarification on the exact method of calculating the compound numbers. The confusion has emerged owing to the two different way adopted by me in the examples of compound numbers. For example in the John Smith’s case, I have calculated his name as follows

JOHN SMITH

JOHN = 18, 1+8 = 9
SMITH = 17, 1+7 =8

JOHN SMITH = 9 + 8 = 17,
So his  compound number will be 17. However, since individual compound number of John is 18 and that of Smith is 17, by adding these two numbers (17 + 18 ) we get another compound 35.

As such John Smith’s name has two compound number namely 17 and 35. Now which one should be considered as the right compound number of this name ?

Numerologists use both these numbers to calculate the hidden influences of these numbers on a person’s life.  Therefore, while calculating the luckiness of a name, you’ll have to take both the compound numbers into consideration.

The single number of John totals a 9, and the single number of Smith equals an 8; the 8 and 9 added together make 17, and 1 plus 7 makes 8. The number of the entire Name is therefore an 8. If John Smith were born on any day making an 8, such as the 8th, 17th, or 26th of a month, the number of the Name and the number of the Birth would then be in harmony, and although the 8 is not such a lucky number to have in an ordinary way, yet in such a case there would be no clash in the numbers; and if John Smith, knowing this, used the dates making an 8, such as the 8th, 17th, or 26th, for his important transactions, he would find himself more fortunate.

If, on the contrary, he had another number, say 2, as his Birth number, such as the 2nd, nth, 20th, or 29th, his Name and his Birth number would not be in vibration one to the other, and there would always be a muddle or jumble in his affairs, and he would also not be able to decide which number to act on or what date he should use.

As he cannot alter his Birth number, then the thing to do is to alter the Name number. If he added a letter making a 3 to his name, such as a C, a G, an L, or an S, which in the Alphabet I gave in a previous chapter have the number 3, and wrote his name, say, “John C. Smith,” or “John G. Smith,” and insisted on being known and called as that, this new Number 3, added to the 17, which John Smith made before, would now give a total of 20, or a single number of 2, and then both the Name number and the Birth number would be in harmonious vibration together, and he would also be sure that he would be right in selecting any date that makes a 2, such as the 2nd, nth, 20th, or 29th of any month, as the most favourable day to make any change or carry out any important plan.

If, however, “John Smith” was born under an 8, such as the 8th, 17th, or 26th of any month, as the total of the numbers of his name also make an 8, I would then not advise him to add a letter or change the Name number, but to work under the 8, as I explained earlier.

Surely this is a simple, clear rule, and will help those countless readers who may be puzzled as to how to get their Name number and Birth number to accord.

However, if a person is born under either of those peculiar numbers such as a 4 or an 8, and if the Name number should also total up to a 4 when one is born under an 8, or to an 8 when one is born under a 4, then for material success it would be better if one added some letter, as I explained in the case of John Smith, so that the total of your number is no longer a 4 or an 8, but one with a more fortunate vibration, making, say, a I, 3, a 6, or a 9. Such a change in the majority of cases will produce most fortunate results and set up entirely new vibrations, which will change a lonely, unlucky life into one of happiness and success.

I would also strongly advise all those who have the combination of 4 and 8 when they make the change by altering their name to produce another number, such as a 1, 3, 6, or 9, to wear the colours and jewels that have been set out for these ” single” numbers, and I am absolutely confident that they will never regret having followed my advice.

Suppose  a person has name Harish Malik (an Indian Name). We’ll see whether this name is lucky for him or not. For this we have to calculate the compound number of his name.

 It may, however, be noted that while the compound number of both names Harish Malik (17 + 11) and Hareesh Malik (26+11) are coming as 28 & 37, if we further add the compound numbers of

 Harish (17=1+7=8) and

Malik (11=1+1 = 2)

The total comes out as 8+2= 10;

and for Hareesh Malik,

Hareesh (26=2+6=8)

Malik ( 11=1+1=2), the total will be 8+2= 10.

 By calculating his compound number this way, both names results into same compound number. You’ll often find such examples wherein if we further add the compound numbers, they often result into same compound numbers from two different names.  Therefore, it is better if we add the initial compound numbers (without further adding them up) of name to arrive at the changed compound number. Sometimes, it become quite confusing and difficult to calculate. However, the rule to follow is that we should keep in mind all combinations of compound numbers (that comes by adding and further adding of numbers) and to select their best possible combination to arrive at a lucky name. It takes time but by a little practice, you’ll be able to calculate the best possible combination for a lucky name.

    Using the above method, you can easily find about your own name whether it’s lucky for you or not.

Now we’ll learn to calculate a lucky day by using compound number as  this method is slightly different from the one we used above to find a lucky name.

Using compound Numbers to find a lucky day

We shall now learn to find a lucky day using compound numbers.

The Rule

Add your birth number and the number of the date (you want to know) into the compound number of your name.  The resultant number will be the compound number whose interpretation you should see  to find if it’s a lucky one or not.

An Example

Suppose  this person Hareesh Malik  wants to know whether 2nd September will be lucky for him or not. Suppose the date of birth of Hareesh is 3rd May. So

The compound Number of Hareesh’s full name is 37 

His birth number is 3 (3rd May); and

the date he wants to determine (2nd September ) has compound number 02

We shall add all the above three

37 + 03 + 02  = 42

42. Has the same meaning as the number 24.

Since it has the same meaning as 24, let us read the meaning of 24.

24. This is also a fortunate number. It promises the assistance and association of those of rank and position with one’s plans; it also denotes gain through love and the opposite sex; it is a favourable number when it comes out in relation
to future events.

As is evident from above the compound number 24 for the date 2nd September is lucky for Hareesh Malik. Thus he may use this date for any of his important task.
